GAIN ABS Web Application

What is GAIN ABS?
The GAIN Assessment Building System (ABS) is a HIPAA-compliant, web-based system hosted by Chestnut Health Systems that allows for computer-based and interactive administration of the GAIN instruments. GAIN ABS was designed to ensure agencies meet HIPAA (1996) standards and the updated requirements outlined in the HITECH Act (2009). When using GAIN ABS to administer an assessment, item skips and calculations are automated to reduce administration time and ensure that full attention is given to the client. The interviewer can document staff notes and easily navigate to specific sections of the GAIN. Detailed clinical reports and summaries, including the GAIN Recommendation and Referral Summary (GRRS), are available immediately upon completing an assessment. The GRRS generates DSM diagnostic impressions based on client self-report and provides clinicians with the option to easily select alternative DSM diagnoses. The GRRS also generates highly individualized treatment planning statements for each ASAM dimension based on the client's service utilization history and problem severity. Clinicians may override, modify, delete, or add to the recommendations.

GAIN ABS can export data to an ASCII file, which can be read into statistical software for analysis and reporting. GAIN ABS can manage multiple setups, multiple versions of the instruments, and multiple sets of data. Data sets can be used to identify provider needs and assist with grant writing, the creation of presentations for stakeholders, and other activities to help secure additional funding for providers.

The GAIN ABS Support Team handles all maintenance of GAIN ABS. Updates and new functions are also regularly incorporated into the system.

Getting GAIN ABS
The GAIN Coordinating Center provides GAIN ABS web accounts to agencies at minimal cost. The GAIN ABS user manual and web training are included with purchase. GAIN ABS is purchased as a yearly subscription but requires that we first have a valid GAIN License on file. The cost of GAIN ABS is based on the number of users within an agency. The price breakdown for GAIN ABS is:

$100 licensing fee (which covers five years of use)
$100 initial setup fee per agency (one-time fee)
$180 GAIN ABS user fee per year for each authorized user
$.50 for each additional interview over 600 per month

If your agency has 10 to 15 GAIN ABS users*, you would be set up with a standard account. The cost breakdown for a GAIN ABS standard account is:

$100 licensing fee (which covers five years of use)
$100 initial setup fee per agency (one-time fee)
$1,800 GAIN ABS user fee per year for up 15 authorized users
$180 per year for each additional user beyond 15
$.50 for each additional interview over 600 per month

*Because a per-user account with 10 users is the same price as a standard account ($1,800 per year), an agency with 10-15 users will be setup with a standard account. Prerequisites:

GAIN ABS Request and Agency Setup form submitted for each participating agency
GAIN ABS User Information form submitted for each GAIN ABS user
GAIN Usage Agreement submitted for each GAIN ABS user

Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer (will also work with Firefox 2.0 or newer)
Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 or higher
