The GAIN Administration Training and Certification process is designed to provide guidance to trainees on how to administer the GAIN and use the information collected by the assessment. The training will also provide an overview of the GAIN ABS-generated clinical reports and explain how they can be used to guide treatment planning. GAIN Administration training is available for both the GAIN-I and GAIN-Q3. To make GAIN Administration training more affordable and individualized, the training is provided through a distance-learning approach. Trainees complete online coursework, participate in conference webinars, and receive one-on-one coaching and practice with our GAIN Administration Quality Assurance Team, during training and as they complete their certification process.
Costs are based on the certification level you wish to achieve and the instrument you choose to use. The cost of training not only includes access to distance training but also additional materials and resources such as a digital recorder, GAIN Response Cards, and a flash drive containing additional resources and reference materials. Trainees are also given access to GAIN support lines for questions regarding use of the instrument or interpretation of the information collected. Trainees who complete all training requirements will receive certificates of completion which can be submitted to their licensing bodies to request Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
There are two certification options for both the GAIN-I and GAIN-Q3 Administration Training.
-
Administration certification is for staff members who will focus primarily on GAIN administration and will not train others on use of the GAIN. This level of certification must be achieved within 3 months of completing the training process, and costs $1,800 for certification on the GAIN-I and $1,200 for certification on the GAIN-Q3.
-
Local Trainer certification is for staff members who plan to train others at their agency (covered under their GAIN License) to administer the assessment, and recommend the staff they train for Site Interviewer certification. Local Trainer certification must be achieved within 6 months of completing the training process, and costs $2,400 for certification on the GAIN-I and $1,500 for certification on the GAIN-Q3. We recommend agencies have two Local Trainers on staff in order to sustain use of the GAIN.
